Jade met me at a wedding I’d previously photographed, as it later transpires by her own admission she had (at the time) mistaken me for a family friend at the wedding - testament I guess to how well I managed to fit in! Apparently, once Jade had seen my pictures from that wedding she stored my details and kept tabs on me on social media until Tom finally popped the question to her (yep, she wasn’t even engaged at that point), hoorah for Jade…and Tom for finally asking her to marry him!
Fast-forward to their really fun summer wedding at Merrydale Manor, they had such in incredible time with their families and friends and one thing that really stood out was the closeness of everyone and the lively atmosphere they all brought to the day (and certainly evening, which was an epic party).
Absolutely everything about their day was lovely and chilled, helped no doubt by the great staff at Merrydale and Jade & Tom’s own relaxed approach to everything, it flowed throughout the day and was a wonderful thing to be part of.

I have to say I do love a purpose built wedding venue, Merrydale is sister to Colshaw Hall and is a rather smashing place to get married, everything is just there in one place which is really rather good for people who don’t want to be darting from one location to the next.
I photographed Jade & Tom’s wedding in my usual style, which focuses on people and emotion rather than poses and things on tables. I love nothing more than telling an honest story of a wedding that is completely personal for each and every couple, little things they’ll remember from their day, unique moments that are relevant to them, there aren’t really any ‘please everyone’ pictures in my portfolio and that’s very much intentional - I really don’t want to give people generic impersonal wedding pictures, I want to give them a story, a real set of memories from their day that they’ll treasure forever. Smiles that reach people’s eyes, big laughs and genuine moments…that’s what I look for. Nothing staged, nothing forced, nothing contrived - not for me thank you!
Here are a few photos from their amazing wedding, everything was photographed in my usual fuss free, unposed and relaxed style. The last thing I ever wish to do is take couples away from the enjoyment of their day, so unless asked specifically I never stage, pose or set up images - and none of that happened on these images, everything is just as it happens.
