Two things to bear in mind when choosing your wedding photographer

Don’t believe a word they write on their websites. Every photographer in the world, ever, has googled ‘How to write the best bio to attract ideal couples’ or something similar.

Of those photographers a lot will have simply copied the bio of a photographer they admire that’s seemingly doing well. A lot go on marketing courses, sales courses and social media courses to learn how to make themselves appealing - now there’s nothing wrong with this at all, but most do this before they’ve actually learned to become a good photographer - so you might end up with someone great at marketing but not that great at taking pictures.

Only judge a photographer based on their pictures, and make sure you see lots of their pictures, ask to see full galleries - you’ll soon see how shit some photographers really are then!

Price reflects quality most of the time. The photographer charging £500 for a full day, free album and engagement shoot who claims to be just as good as a photographer charging a hell of a lot more, well they’re talking out of their arse.

People charge what they’re worth in the wedding photography industry, when they start out and aren’t that good they do it for free or a few hundred £, when they get better they increase their prices, this happens every year until they reach their maximum capability value - then that’s their full price.

If a photographer is cheap, expect cheap wedding pictures. Also remember, decent photographers don’t give away ‘freebies’ to entice you to book, they don’t need to, most of their work comes through word of mouth or reputation. They won’t chase you for bookings either!
